Monday: Brooksby Campus - Rachel Nuttall

Rachel took a good, strong approach with the Learners and they responded well. The activity (mosaic making) was challenging but engaging on the whole and the introduction of graffiti art was popular. Juicy and Dizzie worked away well as did JD, although she and Hoody obviously preferred painting. J and Ka seemed to be influenced by Connor and Eel who were troublesome again after their return from the Drama group. It was disappointing to see them picking on other Learners and it really disrupted some good work.

Tuesday: Brooksby - Rachel Nuttall

Connor started well doing good work on his mosaic. There was more bullying though and Eel was involved in this and an incident with Ka and a groundsman's vehicle (see Leave It). Consequently, Andy was consulted as to their staying on the project. Dez produced and amazing mosaic and Dizzie's also looked great. Juicy did her IRP assessment and achieved an award.

Wednesday: Melton Pottery Studio - Rachel Nuttall

J, Eel and Connor left the project. Even with all the distractions and potential for mayhem in the pottery studio it was a really successful day. Dez got into the work and focused well. Ka was a little unruly, but did settle and persevered to make his pot. The others seemed to get on very naturally and everyone produced at least one good pot. Dizzie helped document the day with photographs and Juicy continued her IRP progress. Most importantly, everyone was happy, relaxed and had fun.

Thursday: Melton Darkrooms - Zoe Childerly & Kevin Ryan

The darkroom was another challenging environment (i.e., darkened room = trouble) but again, good things came out of the day. The Learners listened to instructions well and worked in teams to develop their own photographs. Being at Melton felt confining after the large Brooksby campus, but football was organised in the sports hall for lunchtime.

Friday: Melton Darkrooms - Zoe Childerly & Kevin Ryan

This was an even more difficult day working in a classroom, computer room and darkroom. Hoody and Dizzie did some good work manipulating photos in Photoshop. Hoody lost focus afterwards and was not well behaved. Returning to photography after a break seems to have been problematic. However, Ka worked well with Dizzie and they organised to join a group of boys for football at lunch time. Juicy inspired everyone by receiving her IRP WHSmith voucher. JD was absent.
